Elect of God: NT
“These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:14)
This verse contains the last occurrence of G1588 in the Holy Scriptures. As with previous passages, so in this verse, the context is ambiguous with regards to the meaning of the word. Surely this implies the author used it in the normal sense. There certainly is no elaboration to indicate a different meaning of the word than what is in the LXX.
Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine. (Romans 16:13)
The Elder, To the elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth. (2 John 1:1)
The children of your elect sister greet you. Amen. (2 John 1:13)
There is no need to spend much time in these verses for they simply reference the individuals as elect with no clarification of the word in the context. It is evident there is nothing in these contexts that indicated a special sense of the word.
